About GaijinOS

GaijinOS is a free research tool that helps people living in Japan find public support worth checking.

What does it do?

It uses answers about residence status, work, location, age, and household circumstances to organize benefits, subsidies, services, and other support worth checking.

Sources and verification

Benefit cards include the recorded source page and verification date. Government, municipal, and public-organization pages are preferred where available, but conditions and deadlines can change. Open the source page and confirm with the responsible office before applying.

What it does not do

GaijinOS is not a government service, legal adviser, or eligibility decision-maker. Results are a starting point for research; the program administrator or government office makes the final decision.

How to use a result

A report helps you decide what to ask next: whether a program looks relevant, which conditions still need confirmation, and which office to contact. Open the source page and confirm current eligibility, deadlines, required documents, and application steps before applying. If you find an error or a changed source, you can report it through the corrections page.

Updates and responsibility

Programs are administered by national, Tokyo, municipal, and responsible agencies, and their rules can change. GaijinOS reviews published records, but it cannot detect every change in real time. Use the verification date on each record, then confirm the official page and responsible office before you apply. The site is maintained by GaijinDev as a public-information research project. The verification date is a guide, not a guarantee that every local rule is current.

Examples of public sources

The responsible agency depends on the program. We prefer pages from the agencies that administer the rules, such as the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Ministry of Education, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, as well as the relevant ward or city office.
